For the third year in a row, the Gems had a “Gourmet Dinner Party” and dined out in style at the welcoming Jackson Catering private restaurant in the Arden Arcade area of Sacramento. The cozy restaurant, located in a quiet shopping center, easily accommodated 30 hungry Gems!
Guests began arriving at 6:00 for a “meet and greet” and to reconnect with old friends over a cocktail or two until it was time for dinner to be served. A zesty harvest salad course was followed by either a Flat Iron Steak or Pan Crisp Chicken with Lemon Buerre Blanc, with potatoes au gratin and fresh seasonal vegetables. The vegetarian option was Vegetable Lasagna with White Wine Cream Sauce. As diners finished off their dessert of Sweet Biscuit Short Cake with Fresh Macerated Fruit and Whipped Cream, past President Marla officially welcome everyone, especially first-timers, and give announcements of upcoming events and, of course, the birthday cupcakes and birthday card to members who had their birthday in the month of July.
Following on from the birthday celebrations was a fun accessory exchange which was MC-ed by Activities Committee Chair, Tree. The attendees who participated, were asked to bring a fashion accessory that they no longer wore or that doesn’t suit them, and bring it wrapped and ready to gift to another person. Items were jewelry, handbags, scarves, etc. It was fun for everyone whether they participated or not.
Gradually as the darkness fell outside, and just before folks began to depart, Gems’ photographer, Laura Ann took a group shot of everyone as they posed for the camera. It was yet another successful fun event for the Gem’s event portfolio!
